On June 28, 2016 at approximately 15:30 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Todd Street in the Verulam CBD after receiving requests for assistance after a suspect was attempting to stab an individual.
Several Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found the suspect, with an open knife in his hand, chasing an Indian male.
Officers managed to apprehend and disarm the suspect.
The victim explained that the suspect attempted to rob an elderly male when he intervened. The suspect then drew a knife and attempted to stab him.
The suspect was handed over to authorities for further investigation.
