A Kloof motorist fired two shots when he disturbed suspects who were attempting to steal his vehicle.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the motorist had parked his vehicle and gone to do some banking when the suspects pounced at around 10am.
“When the motorist returned to his vehicle he was shocked to find two suspects in the process of attempting to steal the vehicle, tampering with the ignition,” he said.
“The motorist noticed one of the suspects reaching to pull out his firearm from his belt and he responded by drawing his own firearm. The motorist fired two shots. The suspects fled the scene and jumped into a getaway vehicle that was parked nearby. The two suspects remain at large,” Mathios said.
Members of the SAPS attended the scene of the crime and are investigating.
