On 21 October 2021, at 11:45, police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit held observation on a transaction between two men at Kings Park after receiving information with regards to drug dealing.

As the police officers approached the men, one of them sped off in his vehicle.

A chase ensued towards Morningside and at the corner of Norwood and Trematon Drive; the suspect collided with another vehicle.

The man believed to be in his thirties died at the scene and the other motorist was transported to hospital for medical attention.

A search conducted inside the suspect’s vehicle uncovered drugs such as Methcathinone and Cocaine valued at R5000-00.

The team also seized cash of R1640-00, which is suspected to be the proceeds of drug trade.

Police have opened a docket for possession of drugs and culpable homicide for further investigation.
