The Mthunzini High Court convicted and sentenced Siyabonga Leonard Khumalo (29) to a total of 39 years imprisonment.
He was sentenced to 25 years for murder, 10 years for armed robbery and four years for kidnapping.
The two remaining accused, Lucky Masinga (32) and Thandazani Zikhali (37) are still in custody and will appear in court on 18 May 2018. We are still waiting for the DNA results to confirm the identity.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Bheki Langa is pleased with the sentencing and commended the investigating officers for ensuring that the well prepared docket is sent to court for prosecution.
