The persistence of the Provincial Drug Unit members to root out drug trade and drug abuse in the province yielded results when two female suspects were arrested at Isipingo and other two suspects were arrested in Margate. All arrested suspects will appear in the Durban and Port Shepstone Magistrate’sā€™ Courts on 17 September 2018.

On 14 September 2018, police pounced on two suspects aged 40 and 57 in Malukazi area, Isipingo and recovered 789 capsules of mandrax and 150 heroin tablets with an estimated value of R60 000-00 packaged and ready for distribution.

Suspects were immediately arrested and taken to Isipingo police station for detention. They were charged for dealing in drugs and cash suspected to be the proceeds of drug trade was also confiscated.

Police operation continued to Margate where two suspects aged 30 and 39 were arrested for being in possession of drugs and dealing in drugs. Suspects were found in possession of rock cocaine and clear packets of cat with a combined street value of more than R21 000 in Munroe Avenue, Margate.

They were taken to the police station for detention and charged. Similar operations are continuing throughout the province to eradicate the escalation drugs.
