Special task team assigned to investigate political related matters in Kwazulu Natal is the seeking assistance of the community in locating the two men in the attached identikits.

The team believes that they can be of assistance in solving the attempted murder case of the three three Umzimkulu Municipality ward councillors who were shot on 13 July 2017.

The three were attacked by unknown suspects at the Ibisi area and two suspects were seen fleeing scene in a red motor vehicle. The victims were taken to hospital for serious medical attention.

The task team is making an appeal to anyone that can assist with any information regarding the whereabouts of the men to urgently contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Benginkosi Jeza on 071 351 7233 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Meanwhile, the task team made a breakthrough in the murder of Mbhekiseni Khumalo (57), a former ANC councillor of the uPhongolo municipality. Khumalo died in December last year after he was shot several times at his homestead at Kwalubisi village by an unknown gunman.

On Monday 17 July 2017 members of the task team arrested a 51 year old suspect.

Benginkosi Jacob Twala appeared briefly at the Phongola magistrate court on Tuesday and is expected to appear again on 26 July 2017
