Our dedicated members in the province made good arrest when they arrested suspects for possession of dagga and unlicensed firearms. Drugs to the estimated street value of more than R61 000 was recovered at Bluff and Umbilo.

Police officers who are dealing with drugs and illegal firearms acted on information about drugs at Bluff area last night. The members proceeded to Worthing Avenue in Bluff where they spotted a gold Etios vehicle with two occupants. They were searched and 100 grams of hydroponic dagga was found.

On further investigation, the members proceeded to Sphiwe Zuma Avenue, Glenwood at Umbilo. Three more suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of 308,9 grams of hydroponic dagga. The total of drugs found is estimated to the street value of R61 000.

All five suspects were charged accordingly and will appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court.

In another separate incident, an intelligence driven operation was conducted in the early hours of this morning, 13 July 2018, in Msinga area. A 23 year old suspect was arrested at Ezingulubeni area, Msinga after he was found in possession of two unlicensed firearms.

Another 51 year old man was also arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm at Makhungubhede area. The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing.

Both suspects are appearing today in the Msinga Magistrates’ Court.
