A house robbery in Phoenix, KwaZulu Natal this morning left the homeowner traumatized.

A 67 year old man was bound and gagged during a robbery at his home on Rosemanor Close in Phoenix a short while ago.

At approximately 07:40am members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the home after receiving reports of robbery. Upon arrival the elderly man explained that while he was in his bedroom a lone suspect armed with a knife gained entry into the home via an opened door.

The suspect tied the victims hands behind his back with a shoe lace and gagged him with a t-shirt. The victim was then locked in the bedroom while the suspect searched the home for valuables.

The victim managed to remove the t-shirt from his mouth and started screaming for help which alerted neighbors who went to the home and freed the victim. The suspect had by that time fled from the residence. He had stolen a hi-fi, DVD Player, a Nokia cellphone and the victim’s wallet containing his entire monthly pension.

The victim could not confirm if there were other suspects involved in the robbery.
