Home invasion, siblings brutally assaulted by gunmen, Trenance Park

A brother and sister aged 35 and 37 were injured after being assaulted by armed robbers at their home on Lemonwood Road in Trenance Park, Verulam during the early parts of this morning, 2 June 2018.

The siblings were asleep when they were awoken by two armed men who had gained entry into the home through the kitchen window. The suspects began assaulting the two after they handed over R400 in cash and two cell phones.

During the assault the suspects threatened to kill the victims if they screamed. They then stole a TV and DVD Player before fleeing the home on foot.

A member of the community noticed the armed men exiting the property and contacted Reaction Unit South Africa for assistance. RUSA Officers responded to the call and noticed one of the suspects fleeing in the vicinity of Camphor Close. One suspect opened fire on the responding vehicle before fleeing in an unknown direction. An extensive search was conducted for the gunmen however no arrests were made.

The victims were treated on scene for their injuries. The Reaction Officer was not injured in the shooting.
