A gang of at least five heavily armed suspects held up a family at their home on Charnwood Road in Riyadh on Thursday 24 December 2020. Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the residence at approximately 16:04 after receiving reports of the robbery. On arrival it was established that the suspects had entered the property in a grey BMW with an MP registration.
At least two suspects were armed with rifles while their accomplices were in possession of handguns. They held up the occupants of the home and cable tied one of the victims. The victim was assaulted as the suspects led him through the home and forced him to point out where they had stored the jewelry.
After handing over the valuables the robbers loaded a TV, laptop and iron into their getaway vehicle and sped off from the scene. The victims were not injured and did not require immediate medical attention.
Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search for the suspects however no arrests were made.
