A 15 year old girl was injured and a suspect was shot during a home invasion on Wimbledon Grove in Parkgate, KZN province, on the evening of Wednesday 16 October 2019.
At approximately 20:28 the Reaction Unit South Africa Verulam Operations Center received multiple calls from residents in the area reporting shots being fired at a residence. Several Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found the Verulam SAPS Rapid Response Unit in attendance.
It was established that four suspects had gained entry into a property on Wimbledon Grove and robbed the occupants of the home. The robbers then proceeded to an outbuilding on a neighboring property and were in the process of robbing a family when they were spotted by an individual from the main building.
The man drew his firearm and opened fire on the suspects who fled towards an awaiting silver Toyota Corolla. One suspect is believed to be seriously injured but till managed to flee. A 15 year old girl was assaulted during the robbery and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
