Home invasion: Armed attackers overpower family, Virginia, Durban

A family were robbed by three armed suspects while having a cook out at their home on Clinch Crescent in Virginia, Durban on Saturday evening 11 July 2020.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received information at approximately 19:48 that the suspects white Mazda SUV with GP registration plates was seen heading in the direction of Inanda. Reaction Officers proceeded to the area and conducted a search for the house robbers however they managed to evade arrest.

On arrival at the residence Reaction Officers were informed that the family were in process of cooking a meal in their entertainment area when three armed men jumped over their boundary wall.

Two suspects forced the family into the home while a third man remained outside. The fourth suspect was in the vehicle which was parked on the roadside.

The gunmen forced the family to hand over their jewelry and cellphones before they stole a TV and other electronic devices. While handing over valuables the victims heard a splash in their pool. A short while later the third suspect entered the residence. His clothes were drenched.

The suspects then climbed back over the boundary wall with the stolen goods and fled the scene. The victims were not injured.
