A 38 year old woman was forced into her wardrobe during a robbery at her home on Madrona Drive in Trenance Park, Verulam on Wednesday 8 July 2020.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) are currently searching for the lone gunman who fled towards Amouti with a Sansui speaker following the home invasion.

According to the victim she was alone in the residence when the suspect managed to jump over her boundary fence before breaking and inner perimeter fence. He opened the security gate which was unlocked and accosted the female. The suspect produced a firearm and instructed her to get into a wardrobe in one of the bedrooms. The woman started screaming for assistance and pushed the wardrobe door open while the suspect was attempting to lock her inside. The suspect then grabbed the speaker and fled.

Neighbors who heard the screams for help noticed the gunman jumping over the fence and fleeing into a dense bush leading to Amouti. He was dressed in blue overall pants and a blue jacket. Several residents claimed that the man was known to them and he was seen on several occasions walking on Madrona Drive.

He is also believed to be linked to several robberies and house break-ins in the area.

The victim also informed Reaction Officers that she was surprised that the robber bypassed her two dogs who are generally alert and bark at anyone that enters the property.
