Three suspects aged 24 and 30 are set to appear today in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court for hijacking of an e-hailing taxi driver. It is alleged that on 26 July 2020, at 19:44, the complainant was dropping off a passenger in G-section KwaMashu when he was approached by four suspects.

At gunpoint, they took his vehicle, money and drove away. On Friday, 7 August 2020, KwaMashu police arrested two suspects at J section and the third suspects at K section. The suspects have been linked to a further two hijacking cases that involves e-Hailing taxis reported during the month of July and this month.

In another operation police arrested two suspects aged between 26 and 29 for possession of suspected stolen property and they are also appearing today in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court. The two suspects were found in possession of two vehicles, a white Toyota Hilux and Isuzu bakkies at their place of residence in J section KwaMashu on 10 August 2020. The Toyota bakkie was reported stolen in Amanzimtoti area this month.

The Provincial Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula welcomed the arrests and recovery of the stolen property.
