SAPS Chatsworth Trio Task Team arrested two suspects for a carjacking within an hour of the crime being committed. It is alleged that on Sunday, 11 November 2018, at approximately 21:00, an off duty police officer was seated in his motor vehicle in Welbedacht West when he was accosted by two armed suspects.
The suspects got into the complainants vehicle and drove off with the complainant. The suspects dropped off the complainant without harming him. The complainant immediately contacted the police as well as his tracking company.
Police with the assistance of the tracking company traced the vehicle to Kwandengezi. Police recovered the vehicle as well as the music system which was removed from the vehicle. SAPS Chatsworth is investigating a case of carjacking.
The suspects aged between 24 and 26 will appear at the Chatsworth Magistrates Court in due course.
