Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call of a Hijacking from a resident of Osindisweni – KZN at 19:46 and a call of a Shooting in Progress at 19:49 in Redcliffe – KZN from an Off Duty Policeman (Wednesday).
Upon arrival Reaction Officers established that both calls were related. According to reports received, a couple was hijacked outside their home in Osindisweni – KZN by three (3) armed men. The victim was assaulted on his head with the butt of a firearm (picture 2). The suspects fled in a hijacked silver/grey VW Polo. The victim immediately contacted his brother who pursued the hijackers in his gold BMW.
The occupant of the gold BMW then spotted the hijacked VW Polo in Redcliffe – KZN & rammed into the rear of the vehicle. Both vehicles became disabled after suffering mechanical failure upon impact. The suspects alighted & opened fire on the victims brother who abandoned his vehicle & fled on foot. An Off-Duty Police Officer was driving past the scene & called a colleague who then contacted Reaction Unit SA for immediate assistance.
Reaction Officers later established the suspects were picked up in a gold Toyota Etios hatchback.
