One suspect was fatally wounded after a car chase in Thornwood on January 19, 2017. SAPS received information of a vehicle that was hijacked in Berea.
Members from the Entshongweni K9 Unit spotted the vehicle whilst they were on routine patrol and attempted to stop the vehicle and a chase ensued.
The suspects collided with another vehicle during the chase in Thornwood. The suspects then jumped out of the hijacked vehicle and attempted to evade arrest.
The suspects opened fire on SAPS members who returned fire. One suspect was fatally wounded and arrested the second suspect.
One firearm as well as the hijacked vehicle was recovered.
