Phiwayinkosi Mbedu (29) and Nkosinathi Zungu (35), appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on 12 November 2020, for kidnapping and carjacking and were remanded in custody until 25 November 2020. The third suspect will appear in court on Monday 16 November 2020.

On 29 September 2020, 40-year-old Nkosi Langa was reported missing at Pinetown SAPS and missing person docket was opened for further investigation. It is alleged that Langa left his residence in Pinetown driving his bakkie and never returned home. His bakkie was later found in possession of a 29-year-old man in Dalton area in the midlands.

Further investigation led the police to Pinetown CBD where the two suspects aged 35 and 37 were arrested in different areas in Pinetown. Investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Police investigation revealed that Nkosi Langa was kidnapped at his residence in Pinetown and his vehicle was taken. The police are still searching for Langa.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the vehicle.
