A VW Polo that was hijacked by three suspects was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South Africa in Buffelsdraai, Redcliffe, in KZN province.

Reaction Officers were alerted by Tracker that a VW Polo that was hijacked from Verulam was emitting signals from Buffelsdraai in Redcliffe. Reaction Officers proceeded to the location and recovered the VW Polo abandoned in an isolated area. It had been stripped of its parts.

The victim approached Officers and informed them that he was a driver for a private taxi company and was called out to Umhlanga to pick up three clients. When they got into the vehicle they directed him towards Verulam. As they approached Everest Heights the suspects drew firearms and forced him into the boot. They then drove to Buffelsdraai where they started to strip the vehicle.

After the victim heard a vehicle drive off he managed to free himself from the boot. He proceeded to a local DSW dumpsite and sought assistance from employees.

The victim was not injured.
