On 3 August 2017, at approximately 17:30, Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Trio Crime Unit, together with Montclair Trio Crime Unit recovered two hijacked vehicles.

The team worked together in tracking a hijacked Nissan Bakkie, which was taken from the Bhekithemba area in Umlazi.

The team chased the hijacked vehicle to a property in Kingsley Mews on Kings Road in Pinetown, where Cluster Trio Crimes Unit Commander, Captain Matthee together with Constable Phewa successfully nabbed three hijacking suspects.

The team investigated the property to find a Hyundai i20 which was identified as a carjacked vehicle taken from the Chatsworth area. The vehicle was searched and the team seized approximately 100 live rounds of ammunition from the vehicle.

The three suspects were arrested and charged for carjacking. The suspect’s will appear in Court in due time.

Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Trio Crime Unit Commander, Captain R. Matthee said that the Operational Command Centre (OCC) has a great impact on the crime. “My team will pursue criminals relentlessly,” he said.

Ethekwini Inner South Cluster Commander, Major General Nunkumar commended members on their excellent work in apprehending three wanted hijacking suspects. “We will be working around the clock to ensure the suspects are linked to other wanted suspects in the Ethekwini area,” he said.
