Whilst metro officers were travelling they noticed a silver polo travelling and high speed and attempted to intercept them, after attempts the suspects continued to evade arrest at high speed where they later lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
Metro Officers were able to apprehend 4 suspects as the 5th suspect fled into the shacks, backed up by KZNVIP officers the 5th suspect was apprehended in the informal settlement and a blank firearm was recovered wielding a live 9mm cartridge in the firearm.
Suspects are believed to be committing armed robberies from persons in the Ottawa and verulam area.
A total of 4 out of the 5 suspects were under 18 years of age and the informal settlement community members then became hostile towards law enforcement officers and threatening to damage their vehicles.
The suspects were arrested and detained.
