
Hawks Arrest Suspect for Drug Dealing in Pietermaritzburg Bust
Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal – 16 May 2025 – Members of the Pietermaritzburg Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit (Hawks) arrested a 29-year-old suspect for dealing in drugs following an intelligence-led operation in Scottsville Mall.
Operation Details
Acting on credible intelligence about an individual allegedly selling cocaine and dagga in the area, the Hawks conducted a disruptive operation.

During a search of the suspect, officers found:
–Two bankies of cocaine -
A subsequent search at the suspect’s residence uncovered:
–Three additional bankies of cocaine
–A three-litre bucket containing dagga
Seizures and Charges
The total estimated street value of the confiscated drugs is R4,500, while R2,570 in cash (believed to be proceeds of crime) was also seized.
The suspect faces charges of dealing in drugs and is set to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today, 16 May 2025.
