Greyville Gang of Five Arrested following Service Station Robbery

Five suspects involved in a robbery at a service station in Greyville, Durban, on Sunday morning were successfully apprehended and arrested a short while later.

“Members of SAPS and Durban Metro joined Blue Security reaction officers in swiftly responding to a robbery in progress,” said Blue Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios. “The chase began after five suspects had allegedly robbed a patron at a nearby service station. The men had made their escape into the community with the Blue Security reaction officers in hot pursuit,” Mathios said.

“Even though they were hiding in different locations four of the five suspects were flushed out and successfully detained by members of Blue Security and handed over to the SAPS unit at the scene. The fifth suspect was apprehended a short while later,” Mathios said.

“Some spanners and screwdrivers were found on one of the men. Unfortunately the cellphone and cash, which was taken in the robbery, was not recovered,” Mathios said. “All five men were taken into custody for further processing by SAPS. Community patrols are ongoing to maintain strong visibility in the area,” Mathios said.
