On 3 September 2021, the Durban Regional Court sentenced Lindani Mngoma (26) to five years direct imprisonment for escaping from lawful custody.
On 18 December 2020, Mngoma escaped from police custody at Greenwood Park after he was arrested for house robbery.
He was later arrested with the assistance of the K9 Unit and the private security company.
He was denied bail at court until his sentence. The case of robbery where the accused was charged on was withdrawn at court.
