New development today, Wednesday, the case against General Johan Booysen and more than 20 former detectives from the former Cato Manor Organized Crime Unit took a dramatic turn. Just to recap :

General Booysen and the other detectives were arrested in 2012 and locked up for the night. They were accused of running a so called ” hit squad .” All of them were arrested in front of their wives and children at their houses
This happened after the Sunday Times ran sensational headlines with front page articles screaming ” hit squad ” for weeks.

Now for the pattern analysis with the other big fake news story of the Sunday Times – the so called SARS ” rogue unit ” story, which the Sunday Times also ran for weeks with screaming headlines and front page articles.

The result and outcome of the Sunday Times so called ” hit squad ” story was that General Booysen and the other detectives were arrested and the case he was investigating against the Zuma783 friend and money provider Thoshan Panday went away. The case was thoroughly investigated at the time, but the NPA in KZN just made the case go away.

The result and outcome of the Sunday Times fake SARS ” rogue unit ” story were a catastrophe for the country.
It led to the removal of the entire former leadership of SARS and the installation of Tom Moyane as head of SARS. He is Zuma783’s brother in law. Altogether 55 senior SARS employees were driven out by Tom Moyane, amongst them Johan van Loggerenberg, Ivan Pillay, and Peter Richer.

Interestingly, the man who arrested General Booysen was General Jan Ntebo Mabula, a Richard Mdluli ally. Mabula also arrested Adv Gerrie Nel in another trumped up case, to prevent Nel from proceeding with the case against Jackie Selebi.

Mabula also led a goon squad from the North West province recently in pursuit of Paul O’ Sullivan. They eventually arrested O’ Sullivan after first arresting his assistant Sarah Jane Trent on a Friday afternoon and locked her up for the weekend.

In fact, both the trumped up cases against Genl Johan Booysen and his men and the former SARS management accused of running a ” rogue unit ” were Zuma783 intelligence operations to get rid of people investigating him. Also, that was only possible with media coverage provided by the Sunday Times, which created the atmosphere for the arrest of Genl Booysen and his men and the ouster of the former SARS management.

Either the Sunday Times journalists were agents themselves, or they were duped. Either way, the consequences were devastating.

The journalists involved will have to explain. They have never been held to account. They were Stefan Hofstatter, Rob Rose, Mzilikazi wa Afrika and Piet Rampedi as journalists and Ray Hartley and Phylicia Oppelt as editors. All of them are still with the Tiso Blackstar group [ formerly Times Media ], except Piet Rampedi, who is now running his own rag called African Times in Limpopo.

But back to today’s big development.

Today Colonel Rajen Aiyer was arrested by IPID, in an unrelated case. Aiyer was detained in Durban on charges of perjury and defeating the ends of justice after he lied in court about a robbery case where he implicated an innocent person.

Colonel Rajen Aiyer is a co-conspirator in the trumped up case against Genl Booysen and the Cato Manor detectives. He was actually the commander of the Cato Manor Organized Crime unit at the time but worked with corrupt elements in SAPS Crime Intelligence reporting to Richard Mdluli to manufacture a case against Genl Boosen and the other detectives to get Genl Booysen out of the way. Rajen Aiyer is supposed to be a star witness in the Cato Manor case.
But with him now accused of perjury, his credibility lies in tatters.

Just for the record, Genl Booysen went to the High Court, the Labour Court and an independent panel led by Adv Nazeer Cassim to clear himself of the charges. He was indeed cleared every time, but still Adv Shaun ” the Sheep ” Abrahams is keeping Genl Booysen on the charge sheet, along with two former Cato Manor detectives who have already passed away, namely Captain Neville Eva and Captain Vincent Auerbach. Both these captains died at a young age of heart-related illness, most probably stress related.
