A Gauteng resident has been arrested by members of Reaction Unit South Africa in the Verulam Cbd.

Reaction Officers were called out to a Shell service station at approx 15:00 (Friday) after the garage management were informed by a petrol attendant that he was approached by an unknown African male that handed him a credit card cloning machine. According to the petrol attendant, the suspect arrived at the garage in a silver/grey Colt bakkie & asked him to swipe several atm cards through his cloning machine before swiping the card at the pay point. The attendant was offered R1000 in return.

Reaction Officers requested the attendant to call the suspect and inform him that several cards were swiped through his machine. Three males and a female arrived a short while later. The driver, a 33 year old Midrand resident was arrested with several cloned cards. One suspect managed to flee and the third suspect who was armed with a licensed firearm was arrested and later released.

12 x 25 liter diesel was also recovered in the suspects vehicle.
