A gang of armed robbers held up security guards at an Umbilo business premises before using explosives to blow up a safe in the early hours of this morning.
Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the gang of nine suspects, two of them armed with firearms, held up three security guards on site and forced their way into the premises. The incident occurred at around 3am. “Several of the gang members then climbed into the premises through the roof before using explosive to blow up the safe. The gang fled without taking anything. The investigation is ongoing,” Mathios said.
The SAPS bomb squad attended the scene of the crime.
