KWAZULU-NATAL — Four suspects arrested with firearms in Greytown and the nearby Muden area are facing serious weapons charges after an intelligence-driven sweep uncovered an arsenal tied to individuals actively involved in the ongoing marches against illegal foreigners.

According to spokespersons from National Crime Intelligence deployed in the region, the breakthrough came after gathering actionable intelligence suggesting that certain individuals participating in the anti-foreigner protests were simultaneously orchestrating severe criminal enterprises, including cash-in-transit robberies.

Acting on this information, a multidisciplinary operation was launched by the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Task Team. The tactical unit descended on a residence in Muden in the early hours of Thursday, 29 October 2026. During the search, officers seized a substantial cache of illegal weapons: one AK-47 assault rifle, two handguns, and 159 rounds of ammunition.

The four suspects, whose ages range between 19 and 35, were immediately taken into custody for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Spokespersons for the provincial task team confirmed that the recovered firearms will undergo comprehensive ballistic testing. This forensic analysis aims to determine if the weapons were utilized in other unsolved crimes across KwaZulu-Natal or elsewhere in the country.

The accused are scheduled to make their first appearance at the Greytown Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 30 October 2026.
