A 26 year old suspect fractured his leg while fleeing from a residence he had broken into on Sunlark Drive in Verulam earlier on Monday 24 May 2021.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the property after residents noticed a man breaking into the home.

On arrival, Reaction Officers were informed that the suspect had fled over the rear boundary wall into a bush. A clothing description was provided to Officers who set out in search of the suspect.

RUSA Members heard a man screaming for help in the bush. Officers followed his voice and located him in the dense vegetation. He was found to have fractured his right femur. The suspect was also found in possession of several items stolen from the house.

He informed Reaction Officers that he injured himself after jumping over the 2 meter boundary wall in an attempt to flee.

He was handed over to Police for further investigation.
