On the night of 23 November 2018, a BMW vehicle with five occupants was spotted in the Ndabazasensangu area by King Cetshwayo and Melmoth police. It was stopped and a search was conducted. A pistol with its serial number filed off was recovered.
Five suspects aged between 23 and 40 were arrested. They will appear in the Melmoth Magistrates Court on Monday 26 November 2018.
The suspects will be profiled to determine if they are linked to pending serious and violent cases in the province. Their firearm will also be subjected to ballistic tests to establish if it was used in any crime in the country.
