Five people have been shot in a shooting incident on Adelaide Tambo Drive in Durban North earlier this afternoon.
Emergency services arrived on the scene just after 15:00 to find one person had been shot dead whilst four others had been left with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
Paramedics attended to the injured and stabilized them on the scene before they were taken to various nearby hospitals for definitive care.
The suspect is believed to be at large. The motive for the shooting and the events preceeding it are unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
