
KwaZulu-Natal police arrested five suspects in Umlazi following a robbery at a jewellery store in an Umhlanga shopping mall on Sunday, 12 April 2026.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 44, were taken into custody in the early hours of Monday morning, 13 April 2026. During the arrests, police recovered jewellery estimated to be valued at R3 million, along with clothing, bank cards, and mobile routers.
While processing the scene at the Umhlanga mall, police received intelligence indicating that the suspects involved were seeking a buyer for the stolen items in Umlazi. Officers from the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit and the eThekwini District Task Team acted on the information and located the suspects.
The five individuals have been charged with business robbery and attempted murder. They are scheduled to appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. Police state that investigations remain ongoing.
