A fire has destroyed a business in Shetland Road in Wentworth south of Durban around 10:00 on the morning of 18 December 2019.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find the Factory well alight. A quick assessment was done and it was established that a female had jumped from a window escaping the flames. She was rushed to a nearby Hospital by colleagues for further care.
Rescue Care Paramedics treated two patients for minor injuries. Multiple Fire tenders arrived on the scene and tackled the blaze. Durban SAPS and Metro Police Search and Rescue also assisted Fire Fighters to tackle the blaze.
There were reports of a Dog trapped inside the factory and Rescue Care Medic Ian Wessels was adamant to find and rescue this dog. Rescuers located the dog and made a hole in the wall where Ian went through and rescued the dog.
The dog was then cooled down and given water and assessed thoroughly by Rescue Care Medics and SAPS Search and Rescue. The dog was given a clean bill of health.
The road was closed whilst rescuers worked to extinguish the fire.
SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
