Detectives from the KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit embarked on various operations from 1 March 2021 to 31 March 2021. During the operations, the detectives arrested 326 suspects for various crimes including rape, attempted rape, sexually assault, kidnapping, child abandonment and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The determination from the KwaZulu-Natal detectives led to 20 convictions, which includes four life sentence and 116 years imprisonment behind bars.
The suspects appeared in different courts in the province where they were convicted and sentenced for violating women and children.
