On the 11th of July 2018 the Port Shepstone Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 40 year old father for sexual assault and for creating child pornography.

The police received information that the accused with an IP address had communicated with other individuals and shared pornography images. The images were shared via Facebook and emails, the accused was then traced via his Facebook account to Margate where he was arrested.

His electronic devices were seized which included his laptop and cellphone, child pornography images of children including his five year old biological daughter were found on these devices.

The accused was then linked to another suspect in Australia and he was also arrested.

The information regarding the accused’s e-mails were given to USA Homeland Security. This resulted to the tracing of another accused in Rhodes Island in the USA, he was also arrested.

The sterling work by Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, USA Homeland Security resulted in the conviction of the accused. He was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment for sexual assault and five years for child phonography. The accused was also convicted and sentenced to ten years imprisonment half of which was suspended for five years, for using his child to create child phonography.

The accused is to serve a total of ten years in prison.
