A 24-year-old man is appearing at the Ubombo Magistrate’s Court on 19 June 2020, for possession of suspected stolen property. The suspect was arrested on 17 June 2020, by Pongola Detectives. He was found in possession of a bag with three pair of shoes and a safe’s keys.
His arrest comes after an investigation conducted by Pongola Detectives into a murder reported at Pongola SAPS. It is alleged on 16 June 2020, unknown suspects entered a farm at Pongola where they tied up a 65-year-old. His arms and legs were tied while he was also gagged. His body was found in the morning with a scratch on his leg and with no other visible injuries. A post-mortem will determine the cause of death.
The suspects took the victim’s bag, three pair of shoes, three firearms and a safe’s keys before they fled the scene with the victim’s vehicle.
The deceased was alone when he was attacked. His vehicle was later found abandoned on the same day on the N2 freeway in Mkhuze.
The suspect will appear in court next week on a charge of murder.
