A farm murder took place on 23 June 2023, at 18:00, on the farm ‘Kom Tot Rus’, in the Heatonville area near Empangeni in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa.
A farmer, Mr. Van Zyl, who was outside feeding the chickens, was attacked by two armed assailants.
The farmers wife heard him calling for help and when she checked, she saw two suspects pulling the garden gate open.
Mr. Van Zyl tried to escape from them when they shot him.
After the alarm was raised all role players responded.
Mr. Van Zyl was attended to by medical personnel but passed away.
Police are investigating but there have been no arrests.
