A farm attack took place on the morning of 3 August 2020, on the farm Eersteling, in DeJagersdrif, North of Dundee, in the KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa. Ten attackers arrived on the farm under the pretext of being government officials, four entered the home and held the farmer and his wife at gunpoint.

The farmers wife managed to immediately raise the alarm which fortunately caused the attackers to flee the scene. Farmers from the area organised a swift operation after the attack and cordoned off the area and roads. They successfully stopped the two vehicles that were involved in the attack and arrested eight attackers.

One of the vehicles used in the attack was marked with insignia of the “Department of health.” This is not the first time that attackers have used marked vehicles like this to gain access to farms. People are warned to be extra vigilant and to not be presumptuous when approached by what at first may seem to be officials form some department or other.
