A farm attack took place on 12 August 2022, at about 18:40, on a farm in Ennersdale, near Estcourt, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. Four attackers armed with 9mm pistols and an AK47 cut the fence of the property to gain access.

They then invaded the home and attacked a couple both of whom are in their seventies.

The attackers violently assaulted the man and forced him to open the safe. They were demanding firearms and money.

Fearing for their lives the farmer cooperated and the attackers took an undisclosed amount of money and firearms from the safe.

The elderly couple were further assaulted and tied up.

While the attackers were ransacking the home and loading items onto the farmers bakkie the farmers wife managed to untie herself and then untie her husband.

Fearing for their lives and in an attempt to defend himself and his wife the farmer then retrieved another hidden firearm and opened fire on the attackers.

One attacker was shot dead and the other three fled on foot it presumed that two others were wounded.

Police are investigating the attack and further arrests are imminent.
