The body of a female was recovered in a joint operation between the SAPS Search and Rescue and the Metro Police on 14 March 2019, in Amouti In KwaZulu-Natal.

Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from Councillors in the area on Thursday 14 March 2019, requesting for air support after the bodies of a family of three was washed away on Sunday 10 March 2019. The body of a male and a child was recovered earlier in the week.

The RUSA Helicopter lifted off at approx 09:02 and the Pilot and Crew met with rescuers at the Amouti Police Station. After a briefing the Pilot flew along the river while Search and Rescue members used a rubber dinghy and a dog to search the water.

Police members recovered the body a short while later near a bridge. The body was covered with reeds and was sniffed out by the rescue dog.

It is believed that the family drowned after their house collapsed during the heavy rain.
