On Monday 20 August 2018, the Eshowe Regional Court sentenced Nkosinathi Mhuqu Cele (34) to 15 years imprisonment for a robbery committed at a local butchery in Eshowe.

On 21 July 2017 at 17:10, the victim and his colleague had just cashed and locked up the butchery when they were accosted by an unknown man. At gunpoint the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. A case of robbery was opened at Eshowe police station for investigation.

Following a rigorous investigation, detectives were led to Nkanini in Eshowe where the suspect was arrested.

He was later positively identified by the victims during an identification parade. He made several court appearances until he was sentenced on Monday.
