Employee raids safe, steals cash and firearm, woman arrested

It is alleged on 21 February 2019 at 14:30, at Umhlatuzana Township, the complainant was out of his house with his wife. They left the suspect and other employees at home. Later he received a call from one of the employees that the suspect packed her property as well as complainant’s property and left. Upon checking at home, the victim noticed that the safe containing cash and a firearm was missing.

A case of theft was registered at Bayview SAPS for investigation.

On 25 February 2019, police officers from Bayview detectives followed possible leads regarding the suspect involved in the theft case. The team proceeded to Ntanini area, Eshowe, where a large amount of cash was recovered. Further investigation was conducted and led police to the home of the suspect’s boyfriend in Verulam area.

A stolen firearm with 15 rounds of ammunition was recovered. A 34 year old woman is expected to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court.
