A disabled woman was abducted and an elderly man was shot during a New Germany hijacking on 20 July 2017.

Blue Security operations director Brian Jackson said a man who appeared to be in his late eighties had been shot in his face during a hijacking in Sanders Road.

“The hijackers shot the man in his face during the hijacking and fled in his vehicle with his wife, a disabled woman, still sitting in the passenger seat. The victim was stabilised at the scene and transported to hospital. A police task team together with security companies, neighbourhood watch groups and volunteers launched a massive search for the woman. The vehicle was eventually recovered and she was found, slightly injured, and taken for medical treatment at a nearby hospital,” Jackson said.
