A 64 year old couple residing on the North Coast have become victims of sextortion after they shared nude pictures via whatsapp with a man that replied to their online advert.
The elderly man approached Reaction Unit South Africa after he paid a total of R7000 into a bank account belonging to the suspect. The victim informed Reaction Officers that a few weeks ago his wife agreed to place an advert online looking for a male to join them in a threesome.
One of the replies suited the couples requirements and they exchanged contact numbers. They then chatted to the white male who sent nude pictures and requested the same. The husband then sent several nude pictures of his wife the recipient then threatened to post the pictures on facebook unless he received cash.
The couple who have grandchildren were embarrassed and paid an amount into the account provided to avoid being exposed. The suspect contacted them telephonically a few days later and they then realized that he was an indian male and that his online profile was fake.
The couple made several payments and eventually contacted RUSA after the suspect continued to extort money from them. They are also fearing for their safety.
The victims have declined to open a criminal case.
