A farm attack took place at 19:00 last night, 5 May 2018, in Elandslaagte in KZN near Ladysmith.
Fortunately the farmer, Charles Carbutt was away visiting his daughter at the time, but sadly his workers were attacked and tied up, a number of firearms were stolen. Luckily the farmer was not home because we all know the violence associated with such farm attacks and fortunately his workers were not harmed.
The workers, a husband and wife, heard dogs barking at 19:00 and on investigation saw five black attackers who tied them up and robbed them of cash and phones. One attacker stood guard while the others ransacked the farmhouse.
An angle grinder was used to cut the safe from the prefab wall and cut open the back of the safe.
The farmer Mr Carbutt had a maid come in on the Friday to assist in packing some stuff to take to his daughter . It is expected that she was the source of information as she knew he would not be at home on Saturday.
