Calm has returned after the violent protests that broke out near the Albert Luthuli Hospital, in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal last night. The protest was between Rick Turner Road and the M7 Highway and affecting Bellair Road.

The metro police were quick to respond and disperse demonstrators who were burning tyres and throwing rocks.

There is a tense atmosphere, and protests may flare up at any time, as demonstrators take their concerns to the streets to attract the attention of the African National Congress (ANC) government. The people are annoyed, angry and have lost hope after living without basic service necessities, running water, electricity, and housing. The people want change and are exhausted of the failing promises of a government who does not deliver.

Protests continue to spread across South African on a daily basis, and the SABC continue to censor news, continues with the media blackout and refuse to buckle under pressure to stop the outrageous tactics.
