A male motorist was robbed and shot in broad daylight on Friday morning in Durban on the N2 highway near the M7 off ramp, private emergency services ER24 said.
ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw said the man was driving when he allegedly experienced mechanical difficulty with his vehicle.
“He stopped on the side of the road to asses his vehicle and to await his friends to come assist him,” Rossouw in a statement.
“While he was waiting for help, another vehicle neared the man and allegedly robbed him of some of his possessions at gun point.”
Rossouw said after the man was robbed, he was shot on the shoulder by his attackers.
“The paramedics arrived on the scene and treated the man for his gun shot wound and thereafter he was transported to Albert Luthuli Hospital for further treatment.”
Rossouw said the incident is under investigation by local authorities.
