Durban Metro Police seeks justice for injured officer after intentional collision by a minibus taxi driver

The Metro Police Services can confirm the arrest of one suspect following an attempted murder incident. The victim, a Metro Police Official on duty fired one shot at an oncoming minibus taxi that was driven by an attempted murder driver that had also violated Municipal road-traffic laws and caused damage to property. The unfortunate and dreadful occurrence happened around the Chatsworth area following a hit and run in Unit 9 Shopping Centre, Chatsworth: Southern Durban basin.

The entire eThekwini Municipality, Law enforcement within the Private and public sector, City leadership, and Metro Police under the vigorous leadership of Acting Head, Commissioner Sibonelo Mchunu wishes the dedicated Official, who cannot be named, a speedy recovery.

Metro Police Spokesperson Colonel Boysie said the men and women in blue will continue to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice – confirming the suspect’s arrest on sight.

“We are appalled by the entire incident. As the City’s frontline in crime combating, we risk our lives daily and never wish to experience such incidents,” said Spokesperson Zungu.
