Durban K9 unit members were patrolling along Dr Pixley kaSeme when they stopped a suspicious silver Toyota Etios vehicle. When searching the vehicle which had four male occupants, three unlicensed firearms were recovered.

The vehicle also found that it was stolen in Umhlali area during May last year in a robbery. Four suspects aged between 21 and 29 were placed under arrest for possession of a suspected stolen property, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The suspects were also linked to other robberies reported in Umbumbulu and Umhlali area. They will appear tomorrow, 11 July 2018, in the Durban Magistrates’ Court.

In another incident on 7 July 2018, at 15:30, the Durban Central SAPS arrested a 20 year old suspect for robbery. It is alleged that suspect entered the business premise in the CBD where he pointed an employee with a firearm and took an undisclosed amount of cash which was on the counter and fled the scene.

The police responded and gave chase and he was arrested. A firearm was seized in his possession. He appeared yesterday in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on charges of robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
