Durban drug syndicate members arrested, drug laboratory dismantled

On Sunday, 29 November 2020 Hawks members from Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation assisted by Special Task Force and SARS Customs arrested five suspects aged between 27 and 54 for manufacturing as well as dealing in drugs.

Hawks members conducted number of undercover operations before cracking the alleged syndicate. In March this year, one of the suspects was arrested for manufacturing and dealing in drugs at Hillcrest. The drug laboratory was dismantled and police seized paraphernalia as well as heroin to the street value of approximately R1.6 million.

Members left no stone unturned in their investigation and on 29 November 2020, swooped on the suspects in Chatsworth and Amanzimtoti. All syndicate members were arrested and charged accordingly.

They are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 30 November 2020.
